Martial Arts Systems

General Martial Arts

Jeff Langton blends together East and West to make a well rounded hybrid of martial arts. The emphasis is on arts as Langton believes that combat is a form of "expression of self." There is no socially conditioned behavior in combat. When the stakes are high or a matter of life and death, things change. There is only honesty and the sincerest communication if one is a true artist, a martial artist that is.

Langton being proficient or having mastered arts like Fu Jow, Kajukenpo, Shotokan, Shaolin Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, Hung Gar, Escrima, and Arnis has a huge "vocabulary" to express himself and continues to learn. As far as Langton is concerned black belt is only a state of beginning in relation to the journey. Some of Langton's basic philosophy is simplified as:

Hit 'em hard hit em fast.
Hit 'em and ask questions later.
Know when to walk away.

As Langton knows, simplicity is the key and emphasizes this in the way he distills complicated concepts involved with combat when teaching his students. These includes seldom mentioned spiritual aspects of combat such as inflicting your will on your opponent or the morals and etiquette of combat.
